EXPERIMENTAL LEARNING - Last week Fulton City Middle School students in Amy Chicoine's science classes learned about lab safety, lab equipment, and the steps of the scientific method. Students applied that knowledge Friday by conducting a simple experiment. In it, students watched the effects of capillary action, cohesion, and adhesion as they transferred water from one glass to another without pouring a drop. Students wrote a hypothesis that answered the question: Would having more or less water in the jars effect how fast the water moved from one jar to the other? Students tested their hypothesis, and then recorded their results and observations. On Monday students came back together to share their findings, analyze their results, identify experimental errors, and write peer-edited conclusions.
