Good Fall Break to everyone! I hope yours is as good as mine is! Even though I am basking in the glow of not having to set my alarm, it will soon be time to return to school. We have many exciting things planned from now until Christmas! Reminder- there will be a PTO meeting next Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. in my room. Please, I would love to see everyone here! We need help!
This week in Math, we are beginning our unit on addition. The students will be learning a new way to work addition problems. This does not mean we are throwing the more traditional ways out the door! We are focusing on several different ways to teach them addition. This will give them opportunities to explore which one they like the best, or they can use a variety and combination of ways. Please quiz your child at home on addition facts! This will help reinforce the concepts they are learning at school.
Reading- We are learning about Abraham Lincoln this week in our curriculum. President Lincoln was a very interesting man. Even though we explore his life more on into the year, we will introduce him this week.
As Halloween nears, we are given the opportunity to explore life cycles and really delve into Halloween-related literature, both fiction and non-fiction. We will also be conducting a couple of science experiements this week with pumpkins!!
Have a blessed week! Mrs. Evans
