Twin Cities Chamber of Commerce announce September Business of the Month

The Twin Cities Chamber of Commerce has named Fulton Independent School District the business of the month for September 2012.
The Fulton Independent School District has been in existence over one hundred years (although under various names) educating children in the city of Fulton. Many would not think of an educational facility as being a business; however, the fact is that Fulton Independent is the second largest employer in the city of Fulton boasting over eighty employees. This is the second year for Superintendent, Tamara Smith, and she has every intention of making this small business a high achieving academic district, and wants to be in the top fifty in five years. Smith is also adamant about the effects of this small city school. "Small school size has positive effects upon student participation, satisfaction, extracurricular activities and attendance. Parents are available on short notice and children do not spend wasted hours on bus rides," stated Smith. With the socioeconomic downturn and many businesses closing and adding to the poverty level, Fulton Independent School District is proud to be a permanent fixture and Chamber of Commerce Business of the Month in the renowned city of Fulton.
