FIELD DAY - Friday the 13th was lucky for Carr Elementary School students last week. Students in Kindergarten through 5th grade were able to participate in Field Day events at the Fulton High School football field. The students participated in foot races, three-legged races, two man wheelbarrow races, sack races, and tug-of-war among their classes. Students in each grade competed against one another and the girls competed against the girls while the boys competed against the boys. Students earned ribbons for first, second and third places finishes in each event. After the younger students left to go to lunch, theolder students participated in a softball throw competition and relays before ending their competitions with the tug-of-war. The event has been organized for years by Barbara Burnette, a teacher at Carr. This was Burnette's last year at the helm of the field day, though, since she is retiring after this school year.
