After school visitors

BANANA FESTIVAL OVERVIEW - Angie Bradley Morehead (pictured above) and Jessie Newsom (pictured at left), two members of the Banana Festival committee, visited Fulton Independent’s 21st Century Community Learning Centers Bulldogs Beyond the Bell (B3) after school program last Thursday. The committee members shared a bit about the festival’s history and then gave the students some details about this year’s event. After talking with the group, the committee members asked them questions about the festival for a chance to win banana Laffy Taffy, banana beads and a Banana Festival souvenir cup that will be available in the Banana Cabana. Each student received a banana flavored snack cake at the end of their presentation. The students were given festival “homework” to figure out over the long Labor Day weekend from school – if the festival’s banana pudding weighs one ton and there are 10,000 people attending the festival, how much banana pudding could each person receive if they all took a portion? The festival starts Saturday, September 10, and runs through Saturday, September 17.
