Holiday tradition

BOOKS DELIVERED - Robbie Rudolph, one of the creators of the Four Rivers Foundation and a Fulton City High School graduate, visited Carr Elementary School Friday to deliver books to rrrstudents in kindergarten through fourth grade. The event has become a holiday tradition at Carr. According to the Four Rivers Foundation web site, believing that strong reading skills lead to success Rudolph and his wife, Lisa, created Rudolph’s Readers which gives a free book to every child in the five grades in the four elementary schools the foundation serves. Since 2010, the web site explained, over 1000 books have been purchased and distributed to students prior to their holiday break.

On Friday, Rudolph encouraged the students to read the books, share them with their siblings or exchange them with students in their class in order to foster a strong reading culture in their homes and school.

Also visiting Carr on Friday was Dianne Owen, director of the foundation.
