Read Across America

reaREAD ACROSS AMERICA - Carr Elementary School rea3participated in Read Across America recently. The event, first held in 1998, was created as a national observation of Dr. Seuss' birthday. The event calls all youth in America to celebrate reading as well as the illustrious and award-winning author's life. This year's theme was "Hats Off to Reading" and students at Carr got into the event by participating in a fun Crazy Hat Contest. During morning meeting, Dr. Seuss was discussed and students took the Oath to Read. At 2:15 p.m., an announcement was made over the intercom that everyone at Carr was supposed to drop everything and read until the end of the school day.
