State testing

CELEBRATIONS SET - K-PREP testing begins Monday at Fulton Independent. On Friday, bothlo campuses will have celebrations to kick off the testing time and to recognize and honor those students who scored distinguished, proficient and showed growth on various sections of last year’s test. Distinguished is the highest level students can score while proficient is the second highest level. Those students who showed growth on the test scored 40 percent higher in an area compared to the previous year’s score.

At Carr Elementary School, the celebration will begin at 9 a.m. Friday. The school’s gymnasium will be transformed into a baseball stadium with teachers performing, students singing and other events taking place.

The celebration for middle school and high school students will take place in the Fulton City High School gymnasium at 1 p.m. Friday. The theme for the high school celebration will be “Let’s Rock This Test” and will include a lip sync battle between two teachers.

Parents and other family members are invited to attend both celebrations.
