Fulton City Lady Bulldogs

HONORED FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE - Fulton City High School’s volleyball team recently learned they have received recognition from two groups because of their success in the classroom.

The Lady Bulldogs are one of 10 inaugural winners of the 2017 KVCA Team Academic Award from the Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association. Through a Signature Affiliate Partnership with the American Volleyball Coaches Association, the teams being recognized were able to maintain academic excellence for the entire 2016/17 academic school year.

To qualify, teams must maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.  Nominations for the award took place throughout the month of June and were accepted by the AVCA.

The other nine schools and their head coaches include Covington Latin School, Darlene Bossert; Greenwood High School, Jason Reels; Henry Clay High School, Dale Grupe; Leslie County High School, Lisa K. Wilson; Madisonville North Hopkins, Michael Zimmer; Ryle High School, Tasha Tanner-Lovins; Sacred Heart Academy, Brett Versen; Scott High School, Andrea P. Sullivan; and West Jessamine High School, William Bird.

The team is also a recipient of the 2016-2017 Team Academic Award from the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

This award, according to a letter from the AVCA received by Head Coach Chad Malray, honors teams who have matched their dedication to the sport of volleyball with excellence in the classroom.
