EARLY CODING INTRODUCTIONS - All kindergarten students at Carr Elementary School were introduced to the world of coding this week during computer specials thanks to a new Fisher Price learning toy. Tammy Crumble, computer lab assistant, showed the students how the Code-a-pillar works and then allowed them the opportunity to spend some time using it in groups of three. The Code-a-pillar allows the youngsters to obtain an insight into computer coding by arranging and rearranging the easy-to-connect segments into various combinations. These combinations allow the Code-a-pillar to journey around the room using various paths. Each time the Code-a-pillar moves, the students can see and hear cool lights and sounds. Eventually the groups will understand how to arrange the segments to get the Code-a-pillar to run in a specific path.
