Carr recognizes veterans

A Navy veteran and retired educator was the guest speaker Monday during Carr Elementary School's Veterans Day observation.Cecil Maddox fervently talked about the responsibilites of a soldier, veteran and a civil soldier.

The program also featured the presentation of the colors by Carr Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Tammy Malray, a Carr second grade teacher, sang the National Anthem. Carr first graders and fourth graders presented readings about veterans while the kindergarten classes sang a song about veterans.

Debbie Jackson shared the POW/MIA Empty Table observance, a moving observance for those who did not come home from war.

The Carr program was organized by Mike Thomas, the FIS Community Education director. Carr Principal Sondra Gibbs introduced the guest speakers and recognized all of the veterans at the program.
