CELEBRATING KEATS' WORK - Carr Elementary School students and family members attended a very special Family Reading Night Tuesday, January 21. The event - held in the Carr Library - featured books, art, and snacks inspired by the award-winning children's author, Ezra Jack Keats. Students who attended created "Snowy Day" scenes using Keats' cut paper illustration style. They also made snowflake snacks and each received a copy of Keats' book "Whistle for Willie." The event was completely funded by a grant from the Ezra Jack Keats Foundation. Pictured above is Nekkesia Jackson, a Fulton High School junior, who volunteered to read one of Keats' stories to the participants.
