Learning the rules

QUIZZING THE EXPERTS - Fulton Railro?aders Head Coach Mike Brown and Assistant Coach Mikee Moore stopped by Carr Elementary School last week to talk with the students participating in the 21st Century Community Learning Center's Bulldog's Beyond the Bell (B3) Summer Camp. Last week's camp - entitled "The Rules of the Games" - focused on various sports, their origins and their rules. The campers learned about baseball on Tuesday before attending a Railroaders game Tuesday night. The two coaches visited the camp on Wednesday to talk to the students about the team, baseball rules and traditions and career opportunities related to the sport. Visiting the school with the coaches was Kire Tribble, a Fulton Independent School student and member of B3. Tribble works with the team during the summers to help keep score and completes  other pre-game and post-game duties for the team. The camp was the third week of four for the program and ended on a wet note as campers spent a couple of hours swimming at The Willingham Center on Thursday. Next week completes the summer sessions with a study of wildlife and their habitations. The group will be visiting the Land Between the Lakes to wrap up the summer sessions. FIS students who will be in grades 3 through 8 next school year are eligible to attend next week's free camp. The free camp runs Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. until noon. Breakfast and lunch are served to the campers free of charge each day. For more information, contact Kim Jobe at 662-396-1413.
