Fulton Independent School District has been awarded a 21st Century Grant, and will be available for students in grades 3-8 for the upcoming school year. This is a competitive grant that awards the district with $150,000.00 for the first 3 years and then schools are able to apply for a continuation for up to 2 additional years. The total for the grant is $750,000.00. The faculty and staff are extremely excited to partner with local businesses and colleges to supply educational programs for the students at Fulton Independent Schools.
This program supports the creation of community learning centers that provide academic enrichment opportunities during non-school hours for children, particularly students who attend high-poverty and low-performing schools. The program helps students meet state and local student standards in core academic subjects, such as reading and math; offers students a broad array of enrichment activities that can complement their regular academic programs; and offers literacy and other educational services to the families of participating children.
