Program keeping local kids busy

The FIS Summer Enrichment Program and Brooks Chapel Church has teamed up to offer a program for local children 18 years old and under. Anywhere from 100 - 200 attend on a daily basis. The program offers several educational field trips including a pontoon boat ride around Reelfoot Lake where participants learned how the lake was formed as well as facts about the different species of wildlife that inhabit the lake area. Several recent FHS graduates - including Austin Ferrell, Jordan Miller and Rebecca Whitesell - have assisted with the enrichment program. Local community volunteers have also taken part in making the program a success this summer. The Summer Enrichment Program is guided by Coach Mike Thomas, FIS Community Education Director. The program was kicked off at the beginning of summer break with a popular Bump and Jump activity.
