The fall sports season is off to a good start at Fulton Independent.
According to Athletic Director Chad Malray, Fulton High School’s volleyball team scrimmaged Graves County Tuesday August 13. The varsity won 2 out of 3 sets.
On Friday, August 16, the FHS football team played in a jamboree at Gibson County. The Bulldogs came up short 13-6. However, the defense had a fumble recovery and a interception. Offensively, the Bulldogs had a 70-yard run for a touchdown.
The middle school football team played their first game in two years on Saturday August 17, at home against Murray. The young Bulldogs lost a heartbreaker 8-0. The middle school defense had an interception and two fumble recoveries.
“I heard nothing but positive comments after the game,” Malray said. “After not having a team last year, our middle school team brought some respect back to our school. We also had a good crowd.”
The FMS Cheerleaders showed off some new uniforms and looked polished and professional in their support of the football team.
Next week will be a busy one for the Fulton athletes. The schedule includes:
Monday, August 19 - Volleyball @ Mayfield
Tuesday, August 20 - Volleyball v Calloway County (home)
Thursday, August 22 - Volleyball @ Carlisle County
